The Republic of San Marino won the prestigious Communication Arts – Award of Excellence 2021 in the Typography Annual section with the postal series Greeting Stamps, issued on June 16, 2020.
The influential magazine Communication Arts brings together the best in visual communication worldwide in its Annual catalog, one of the most influential publications in the field. The Prize is awarded by a jury of experts who select works in the following categories: illustration, photography, interactive media, advertising, typography, and design. Each year out of thousands of participants, only very few are chosen to join the book.
The young San Marino artist Davide Pagliardini, author of the postal series, says, “Receiving this award for the second year, again for a project carried out with the San Marino Numismatic and Philatelic Office makes me very proud: it means that the work that the Office does in general has great relevance not only in the philatelic world but also in the world of visual graphics, and it would be enough to see the collaborations it carries out with various artists and designers. But it is also very nice for me because it means that my lettering projects manage to cross borders not only nationally, but also internationally, given the spread of Communication Arts. In addition, two projects were awarded to which we assigned the task of carrying a social message, again of inclusion and positivity, and I think this managed to be understood on the other side of the world as well.”
