A postage stamp to celebrate the milestone of this organisation, which includes members from media all over the world
A century of sports journalism history The International Sports Press Association (AIPS) is the professional body uniting the international sports media, with over 9,500 members worldwide, from leading international newspapers, websites, periodicals and radio and television channels on four continents. The first AIPS Congress took place on the 2nd of July 1924, with 29 nations attending, exactly 100 years ago.
AIPS is accredited by the International Olympic Committee and the most important federations of every sport and country. The aim of the AIPS is to strengthen cooperation between its member associations in defending the independence and professional interest of its members, strengthening friendship, solidarity and common interests among sports journalists of all nations, and ensuring the best working conditions for members. The stamp issued by Poste San Marino on 19 March (€2.45 in sheets of 12) features the special logo for the celebrations.
San Marino has also included a special cancellation for the 40th anniversary of the San Marino Sports Press Association (ASSS), established in 1984 and a voting member of AIPS.
