Four stamps for as many entities linked to flying for sport, tourism and pleasure issued by Poste San Marino
SAN MARINO, 17 June 2024 – The most distinguished entities linked to flying for tourism united in a synergic promotion project: the Associazione Città dell’aria. Aeroclub San Marino, Aero Club d’Italia, Piloti di Classe and the municipalities of Castiglione del Lago, Magione and Passignano sul Trasimeno presented this morning at the Torraccia airfield, in San Marino, their various activities, among which the Philatelic and Numismatic Division of the San Marino Post Office stands out. It has dedicated a postal sheet composed of 4 different stamps to the Citta dell’Aria association, founded in 2021 to unite the Italian municipalities linked to the aeronautical world by virtue of history, culture, sport and economy.
The first stamp depicts an illustration of an aircraft in flight with the First Tower of San Marino in the background and at the bottom the logo of the Aeroclub San Marino; the second stamp depicts an illustration of a seaplane in flight over Lake Trasimeno and at the bottom the coats of arms of the municipalities of Castiglione del Lago, Magione and Passignano sul Trasimeno; the third stamp shows an illustration of an aircraft in flight over the Italian peninsula and at the bottom the logo of Piloti di Classe while the fourth shows a view of an Italian plain overflown by an aircraft and at the bottom the logo of the Aero Club d’Italia.
During the conference today, the President of Città dell’Aria Luca Briziarelli described how the Association aims to develop recreational and sports flying in order to promote tourism and the territory, and how the project unites Italy and San Marino thanks to the activities of their respective aeroclubs.
The Secretary of State for Tourism Federico Pedini Amati was present, and explained how San Marino was among the first to favour the establishment of the Città dell’Aria and how, by means of its delegation to the Post Office, it supported the idea of a commemorative postal issue.
Also present were the Honorary President of Aeroclub San Marino Corrado Carattoni, Gaetano D’Andrea of Piloti di Classe and Mayors Sandro Pasquali of Passignano sul Trasimeno, Massimo Lagetti of Magione and Matteo Burico of Castiglione del Lago.
“When we received the proposal to dedicate a postal issue to the Citta dell’Aria Association,” explains Poste San Marino General Manager Gian Luca Amici, “we greeted it with great enthusiasm. I believe that nowadays philatelic issues are also useful to support specific projects and that they gain in value in conjunction with them. I thank all those who collaborated and made this issue possible”.
