The first 999 BU silver coin dedicated to the bird of prey nesting on Monte Titano
The Philatelic and Numismatic Division of Poste San Marino Spa is issuing, for the first time, a brilliant FDC (BU) 999 silver coin weighing one ounce. The issue, set for the 25th of January, represents an interesting new development with respect to the past: the new coins will be made with a purity of 999 thousandths and a weight expressed in a globally recognised unit of measure. The reverse of the coin designed by the artist Anna Schlindner depicts a peregrine falcon in flight (the coin features the legend SAN MARINO and the year 2024 at the top, the inscription PEREGRINE FALCON on the left, and the inscriptions 1 OZ and Ag 999 and the value 5 EURO at the bottom). The dedication of the coin, the beginning of a new series, reflects the elegance of the native bird of prey that nests in a niche in the cliff near the First Tower on the summit of Mount Titano. On the obverse, you can find the coat of arms of the Republic of San Marino (designed by Antonella Napolione).
