The stamp series represents four species of mammals that live on San Marino territory.
Wolf and wild boar are large animals. Of mainly nocturnal habits, the wild boar roams the countryside in large herds in search of tubers, roots, fruit, earthworms and all sorts of vegetables. The wolf, on the other hand, is mainly carnivorous, hunts deers and wild boars and lives in family groups of 5-8 individuals led by a dominant pair.
The hedgehog and the white-bellied crocidura, small and harmless animals, feed on earthworms, snails, insects and larvae.
