The stamp depicts a stylized running man made up of a rope, a tool of death that turns into the symbol of human life which trascends any state punitive power. The set designed by Gianluca Costantini celebrates the 150th anniversary of the abolition of the death penalty in San Marino, when the new penal code was approved. San Marino was the first country in Europe and the third in the world to abolish it.
